The Roaring 20’s

The 1920’s was a time of great economic prosperity after WW1. It was a time of jazz, the mass-produced car by Ford, prohibition in the United States, and there was also a real shift in fashion for both men and women. Women’s clothes reflected her changing role in society with shorter skirts and trousers that allowed for easier movement; The corset had been tossed aside for more comfortable undergarments; and the fashions became more masculine. The cloche hat was ever present on ladies heads, and many opted to have their hair cut into short bobs. The most notable fashion designer of the time and whose vision still flourishes today is Coco Chanel. She was one of the first women to abandon the corset, cut her hair, and wear trousers.
